Day 65--April 27, 2008

Woke up at 8:15 A.M.

Headed to Humboldt to try out a new church.  Ended up being one of three cars in the parking lot.  Not too excited about that.  I got so far as the front doors, then realized that this wasn't what I was goin' to be lookin' for, so I turned around and walked out.  Ended up driving until I found another one.

And I was nearly the youngest guy there.  The nicest people, sure!  But I've noticed that that is just Kansas church folk in general!  Where are the 20-30-year-olds?!  I experienced a rather interesting/comical Sunday School...a couple of guys who couldn't stay on track for the life of them and one quiet wife.  With all due respect, there is just some ignorance (not stupidity) here.  Just some of the things mentioned about outside of the United States, about the Bible, etc., just weren't necessarily right on track.  But the people were genuine, kind, and I suppose it was a good experience.  Oh, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a $6100.00 offering.  The number of people?  48.  Was that just a fluke?  Well, I checked last week's offering.  $6095.  People?  46.  Maybe I did learn something from a church in the middle of Kansas...

Came back and crashed.  Slept until 2:00 P.M.

Woke up, ate something, then just chilled around the airport.  The guys that rolled in the Cessna Citation left today.  We went out to watch 'em leave.  And oddly enough, they left with four young girls.  Rather cute, too!  Probably around 18 or 19 years old.  And they didn't come with them.  The theories were flying as to how this happened, and I won't mention half of them, but needless to say, we were RATHER confused.  I'm still sayin' (and desperately hoping) that these were grandchildren.  please.  I am taking hope in the fact that one young boy came out with them, too...

who knows.

No flying today.

Met some other hunters who flew in today from Minnesota.  Talked to them for 45 minutes in the FBO.  Turns out one guy is very familiar with Springfield.  I guess his brother has his own orthopaedic center there.  So we talked about people we knew.  He was quite impressed that I knew the people he did!  The other guys were bewildered at how small a world this is.  Chanute, Kansas.  Who would've thunk?!  He ended up inviting me to a meeting of his back in Springfield.  Some type of business that I should be very interested in.  Lots of money to be made.  At the Crowne Plaza and then the Real Estate Group.  But he never would tell me what it was...haha...my guess is some financial mumbo-jumbo.  "They pay me ridiculous amounts of money."  People are funny.

Headed over to the Knox's for the evening.  Had a large group of 17 out there.  Ate some great food, watched a video, then just chilled.  Came back at midnight.

Went to bed at 12:38 A.M.  I have to wake up early tomorrow to take a friend to Pittsburg.  He's out of a car, and I told him I would help.  6:30 in the morning.  ouch.  I don't like that stuff...

(oh, and for all y'all back home, I should be comin' back to Illinois in a couple of days.  I'm flyin' the twin to Chicago and will swing by on the way back.  Probably Tuesday into Wednesday.  Might change, but I'll keep ya posted).
