Woke up at 12:19 P.M. No lie. Those late-night conversations are not for me. I hate that!
Washed my motorcycle this afternoon.
Travis came back from his check-ride this morning, and I'm proud to report that he is now a pilot! He just passed his Private Pilot test this morning. Pretty sweet story there. He came in from a flight school with nearly 40-some hours. But he hadn't even soloed yet. An hour or so with Van, and Van said he would be a pilot in 10 days.
I think today was Day 15. Pretty impressive! Completed his solo in just a couple of days after arriving, and now he's a pilot shortly thereafter!
Just a bit after them gettin' back, Alan said he was takin' the twin for a spin! woo hoo! I watched him take it up and then come back about 15 minutes later, and he gave it the OK. Van told me to grab my headset!
woo hoo!
So I finally made it up in the twin!
And that is one powerful beast. She flies really well. Incredibly smooth...it just feels like it was made to fly. It slides through the turns so easily. Because it's a new engine, we just flew it in normal straight-and-level flight with only minor turns. But she really flies nicely! I'm lookin' forward to the next 125 hours!
Lots of checklist stuff. Lots. And I'll be learning that landing is pretty important, too! Not a whole lot of room for error!
Flew 0.9 hours.
Went with Travis down to Grand Lake Regional Airport in Oklahoma. He had to get out and enjoy his new license! I was happy to join. The airport itself is probably the sweetest airport that I've landed at (although I was just along for the ride!). It is literally right off of a huge lake. You fly over the water and land! Fantastic!
I ate some lunch there, and we went and just sat by the lake. A pretty nice lake. Just good to see some water.
We were there about an hour, then Travis flew us back. After gettin' back, I went into town and bought the goods to change the oil on my motorcycle. Took about 40 minutes. Not too bad. Then I took her for a joy-ride around the airport! She's pretty fast! I like! Still no insurance or registration on it, so I have to wait for the roads!
Went out with Travis and Jesse for some pool tonight.
Ended up hittin' the sack at 3:00 A.M. I'm tryin' a new church tomorrow.
