Day 47--April 9, 2008

Woke up at 9:10 A.M.

No flying today.

Went out to eat with Jarryd, Van, and Venkat.  We hit up the Pizza Hut buffet today...it's been so long since I've had one of those.  We had to give Venkat a nice farewell...he leaves tomorrow to see his family in Canada and to work in Saudi Arabia.

Dropped my car off at the car shop.  Havin' them replace the rear pads.  See if they can't figure out how to get that bolt off!

Had a monsoon hit us this evening.  It's been crazy.  It seems like we've had rain at least 9 out of the last 14 days.  And we've got more comin' tomorrow.

Actually, if you're readin' this early, watch out!  Tornadoes are breakin' out all over Texas and Oklahoma already...more will be hittin' today in Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois.  It's a text-book storm.  It will probably even be the worst of the year!  Lots o' long tornadoes and plenty of nasty storms.  (go ahead, go check the weather before goin' on!)

I wish I could be chasin' those tomorrow...grr!

Went to Van's for supper tonight.  Venkat, Jesse, and I all went.  Jesse is a new student who showed up today.  24 years old and from Wichita.  Already got his Private Pilot with about 60 hours.  Goin' all the way through all the ratings, so he's here for the long haul.  Nice guy.

We hit up Van's for good food and the Phoenix Suns game.  I wonder how many flight schools across the country find the students in the instructor's house for food and basketball.  Probably not too many.  It's pretty nice.

On the way down, we were all sharin' why we came to White Air, and the answers are basically the same.  Frankly, we get the most bang for the buck.  Compared to other schools, we get the most multi-engine PIC time.  We get NO safety-pilot time (at least not in the program price...if ya use it, it's just an added bonus!).  We get some pretty sweet training that prepares us to pass any FAA exam.  And it's about $20,000 cheaper than schools that don't even give you that much.  Kind of a no-brainer if ya ask me.

But I'm excited to live and train with Jesse.  And we've got another comin' in tomorrow...makin' the long drive from Buffalo, New York!  I can't wait for that culture shock!  Jarryd, Jyri, and Venkat leave...Jesse and Travis show up.  It's a pretty sweet gig.

Went to bed at 12:30 A.M.

Gotta wake up early to drive Venkat to the Kansas City Airport!
