Woke up at 10:00 A.M. After a couple of phone calls from people around 9-ish. Not cool.
Another day of no flying. We knew the weather was goin' to be dismal, but it's pretty yucky. Ceilings at 700 feet, fog, mist, rain. Just an all-around non-VFR and even non-IFR day (for landing here)!!!
So I spent most of the day workin' on a website for some friends back home. Got that all up and running. I've been meaning to do that for over a month now, so it was nice to have a day to dedicate to that.
Went out to eat with Van at MoGedi's Steakhouse for lunch. It's about a mile from the airport, and it has probably the best food in town. All for six bucks! You just can't beat these small-town prices! I had fried shrimp and fries...Van splurged and went with some chicken scampi. Whatever that means! Good food, though. We'll be back...
We re-scheduled the check-ride for over the weekend. A couple more days to think it over! I went into town to do laundry, and I took the down-time there to read the Instrument Oral Exam guide some more. Fun stuff, I know. But hey, it beats watchin' the clothes go 'round in the dryer!
And I don't know how to really describe it, but I think I reached "the point" today. I'm unsure if other pilots get there, or if it's just me, or if it's a phase, or if it happens again and again. But I was lookin' at some pictures that Jyri has taken over the past couple of weeks, and somethin' in my mind just said, "I can't think of doing anything else." Maybe it's because I've been surrounded by airplanes for 40 days straight. Maybe it's because that's all I study and think about. But I think it's more than that...the more I looked at his pictures, the more I fell in love with flying. I have stared out of who knows how many airplane windows. I have flown to a number of airports. I have flown several different aircraft. And yet I keep comin' back for more. It never gets old! Maybe that's why it's called the joy of flying, I don't know. So there I was, browsin' through the pictures, and on each click, I was excited to see what was next. I've been to these places that he had taken the pictures at, but I was loving re-living the memories!!! I think I could talk airplanes or flying for the rest of my life and still not say enough about it...it's quite a fun place to be.
All in all, another pretty laid-back day. Just gettin' mentally prepared for the check-ride. It's almost here! Hopefully come next week, you'll be readin' the blog of an FAA-certified Instrument Pilot.
I could handle that.
Went to bed at 12:30 A.M.
