4:34 P.M.
Fog. 59 degrees. Pressure dropping. Warm front meeting cold front. Good times had by all...
So here's the latest...(oh, and in the graphic up above, yeah, that's me over there in the red. Chanute, Kansas. yup.).
Severe thunderstorms are likely for most areas from this evening through Monday as a cold front stalls in southwest to northeast manner from South-Central to Northeast Kansas. Severe thunderstorms developing along and southeast of the front may produce tennis ball sized hail...damaging winds...and even a few tornadoes this evening and overnight. On Monday...the chances for severe thunderstorms are increasing for areas along...and east...of I-135. These thunderstorms are likely to produce 2 inch diameter hail...damaging winds...and even a few tornadoes. The area at greatest risk for such severe weather is Southeast Kansas...where some thunderstorms may linger into Monday evening.
[end of forecast]
I want you to walk outside right now and have your kid drop a tennis ball-sized piece of ice on your head from the roof. About 12 feet. It hurts. Now just picture that coming down from the sky...thousands of feet up. Not exactly pleasant. Which arises the question...put the car in the hangar...or just stay far enough ahead of the storm...hmm...what to do, what to do...
Batteries are charged, GPS is charged (I hope those gravel roads show up!), but daylight is tickin'. It's all goin' to happen in the dark...not too good. Tomorrow will be more of the same, but it's goin' to be hard to sleep tonight! She's a'here!
